Allan Douglass Coleman (geboren in 1943) is een onafhankelijke Amerikaanse criticus, historicus, docent en curator van fotografie en foto-gebaseerde kunst. Hij heeft acht boeken en meer dan 2000 essays over fotografie en gerelateerde onderwerpen gepubliceerd. Als pionier in het veld was hij de eerste fotocriticus voor The New York Times en lanceerde hij in 1995 het online magazine 'The Nearby Café'. Zijn werk is wijdverspreid vertaald naar verschillende talen en wereldwijd gepubliceerd.^[1,2]
