Arno Rafael Minkkinen

Arno Rafael Minkkinen is een Fins-Amerikaanse fotograaf, essayist en docent die bekend staat om zijn uitgebreide oeuvre van onbewerkte naakte zelfportretten in verbinding met de natuur en stedelijke omgevingen. Geboren in Helsinki in 1945 en verhuisd naar de Verenigde Staten in 1951, studeerde hij aan Wagner College en behaalde later een MFA aan de Rhode Island School of Design onder Harry Callahan en Aaron Siskind. Zijn praktijk begon serieus in 1969, waarbij hij zich gedurende meer dan vijf decennia op één concept richtte. Minkkinen heeft diverse academische posities bekleed, waaronder Emeritus Professor of Art aan de University of Massachusetts Lowell en Docent aan de Aalto University in Helsinki. Hij is een veelvuldige docent en curator wiens werk deel uitmaakt van belangrijke collecties wereldwijd, waaronder het Museum of Modern Art in New York en het Centre Georges Pompidou.[1,3]
