Elliott McDowell

Elliott McDowell is een Amerikaanse fotograaf die bekend staat om zijn werk met traditionele fotografietechnieken en zilverafdrukken. Zijn interesse in fotografie begon als kind met een Kodak Brownie, waarna hij een formele opleiding volgde aan de Southern Methodist University (BBA, 1970). Zijn artistieke ontwikkeling werd aanzienlijk beïnvloed door zijn studie onder Ansel Adams tijdens de Yosemite workshops van 1972 tot 1975 en door onafhankelijk onderzoek bij Laura Gilpin in Santa Fe. Het werk van McDowell verkent vaak landschappen, portretten, interieurs en eigenzinnige onderwerpen, gekenmerkt door een gevoel van fantasie en humor. Hij stapte in de vroege jaren 90 over op digitale fotografie, maar blijft bekend om zijn klassieke zwart-witwerken. Zijn foto's maken deel uit van talrijke prestigieuze collecties, waaronder het Metropolitan Museum of Art en het New Mexico Museum of Art.[1,2]
