Horacio Fernández Martínez is een Spaanse kunsthistoricus, fotohistoricus en universitair professor. Sinds 1988 is hij hoogleraar in de Geschiedenis van de Fotografie aan de University of Castilla-La Mancha in Cuenca. Hij is een prominente figuur in de studie naar het photobook en heeft talloze grote tentoonstellingen gecureerd en verschillende wetenschappelijke werken over dit onderwerp gepubliceerd. In 1999 cureerde hij de belangrijke tentoonstelling "Fotografía Pública: Photography in Print 1919-1939" in het Reina Sofía museum. Tussen 2004 en 2006 diende hij tevens als algemeen curator van PhotoEspaña, het internationale fotofestival in Madrid.
