John Ellis Bowlt

John Ellis Bowlt is een Britse kunsthistoricus gespecialiseerd in de Russische avant-gardebeweging van 1900–1930. Hij heeft academische posities bekleed bij verschillende instellingen, waaronder de University of St. Andrews, de University of Kansas en de University of Texas at Austin, waar hij werkzaam was als associate professor en later als professor in het Russisch. Bowlt is een vooraanstaand autoriteit op het gebied van visuele cultuur, Symbolisme en de geschiedenis van de moderne Russische kunst, en heeft uitgebreid geschreven over kunstenaars zoals Bakst, Benois, Filonov, Kandinsky, Malevich, Somov en Tatlin.[1,2,3]
