Michel Auer

Michel (Micha) Auer (1933–2024) was een vooraanstaande Frans-Zwitserse fotograaf, verzamelaar en kunsthistoricus. Hij was een leidende figuur in de documentatie van de fotografische geschiedenis en stond vooral bekend om zijn uitgebreide publicaties over vintage camera's en de veelomvattende "Encyclopédie Internationale des Photographes" (International Encyclopedia of Photographers), die hij mede-auteurschap gaf. Samen met zijn vrouw, Michèle Auer, richtte hij in Neuchâtel, Zwitserland, de Fondation Auer Ory pour la photographie op. Gedurende zijn leven verzamelde hij een enorme collectie historische foto's en camera's, waarmee hij aanzienlijk heeft bijgedragen aan het behoud en de studie van het erfgoed van dit medium.[1,2,3,4]
