Peter C. Bunnell (1937–2021) was een vooraanstaande Amerikaanse fotografisch onderzoeker, curator en docent. Hij diende van 1972 tot aan zijn pensioen in 2002 als de eerste David Hunter McAlpin Professor of the History of Photography and Modern Art aan de Princeton University. Tijdens zijn termijn bekleedde hij ook de functie van Director of the Princeton University Art Museum (1973–1978) en Acting Director (1998–2000). Bunnell was leerling van zowel Clarence H. White Jr. als Minor White, wiens archief hij uiteindelijk voor Princeton veiligstelde. Hij bekleedde belangrijke curatoriale functies bij het Museum of Modern Art in New York, waar hij baanbrekende tentoonstellingen organiseerde zoals 'Photography as Printmaking' (1968) en 'Photography into Sculpture' (1970). Zijn wetenschappelijk werk richtte zich op Amerikaanse fotografie, in het bijzonder het werk van Minor White en Jerry N. Uelsmann.[1,2]
