Yusuke Nagai is a Japanese photographer and artist based in Tokyo. Born in 1985, he began taking photographs as a hobby during his junior high school years. He gained significant recognition in the photography world when his photobook 'varnish and mortar' won the Grand Prize at the 1st littlemoreBCCKS Online Photo Book Competition in 2009. The book is noted for its unique visual style, which blends color, light, and darkness to capture scenes with a soft, straightforward atmosphere. Nagai also serves as the director of 'VACANT', a free space located in Harajuku that facilitates art and culture exchange.[1,2]
