Michael Ackerman End Time City

End Time City is a compelling collection of charged images captured by photographer Michael Ackerman in Benares and Allahabad between 1993 and 1997. The work explores how humans transcend cultural specifics to find what it means to be alive, focusing on the streets, interior moments, and ritual dances surrounding the cremation grounds. Departing from straight documentary style, Ackerman utilizes bursts of light and dark, blur, grain, and texture as aesthetic components.
