History

History is a series of monumental panoramas, moving from the streets of Baghdad to Ground Zero, the embattled landscapes of Afghanistan and the Milosevic trial in the Hague. This limited edition signed and numbered book consists of 32 pages and features 13 four-color illustrations. Luc Delahaye's work focuses on the aftermath of contemporary wars and civil unrest, offering a documentary perspective on global conflicts. The project was initiated in 2001 and captures significant recent events, ranging from political demonstrations to natural disasters and evidence of war and genocides. By moving from the streets of major conflict zones to the quiet aftermaths of violence, Delahaye creates an evocative, large-scale visual record that reflects the traditions of history painting while maintaining the raw honesty of documentary photojournalism.
