Winterreise

Winterreise is a melancholy road story and a dark portrait of contemporary Russia. Photographer and storyteller Luc Delahaye travels through the winter of 1998/9, capturing the social consequences of economic upheaval. His images bridge the gap between art and reportage, documenting the misery and secret landscapes of a country in crisis. Through 144 photographs, all taken in Russia, Delahaye was invited into the homes of ordinary people, revealing a country in a state of upheaval. The work serves as a poignant documentation of the social crisis, exploring the landscape of post-communist Russia as it faces a period of significant transition and hardship.
