Magie der Schiene (Magic of the Tracks) is a seminal work in postwar Swiss photography and design by René Groebli. Published in 1949 by Kubus Verlag in Zürich, this limited edition photobook features black and white photographs that explore the aesthetics of speed and movement in train travel. The book's format was loosely modeled on Man Ray and Paul Eluard's 'Facile' (1935). It is characterized by its unique presentation: loose sheets inserted into photo-illustrated card wrappers with a printed wraparound band. The work includes contributions such as a poem by Albert Ehrismann and an afterword by Hans Ulrich Gasser, capturing the atmosphere of soot and smoke between Paris and Zurich.
