On faith and conflict, ecstasy and excess - Catalogue Photofestival 2007 Faith: indispensable for one, unthinkable for another. Experienced personally and practised collectively, it connects people - and divides them, because one who believes very quickly has a corner on the truth. In the book Act of Faith, around 130 photographers from all over the world provide a probing documentary image of the veritable Babel of religious claims - and their consequences. Their photographs are made before the gates of paradise, and hell, sometimes personal, sometimes detached, now confrontational or critical, then warm or reverent - but never indifferent.
