Ann Thomas

Ann Thomas is een Canadese fotografiemuseumcurator en kunsthistoricus, geboren in Durban, Zuid-Afrika. Ze emigreerde als tiener naar Canada tijdens de apartheidperiode. Na het behalen van haar B.A. aan de Sir George Williams University (nu Concordia University) en haar M.F.A. aan de Concordia University in 1976, begon ze haar carrière in 1977 bij de National Gallery of Canada. Gedurende een loopbaan van meer dan 40 jaar bekleedde zij functies als Assistant Curator, Associate Curator en Senior Curator of Photographs, waarbij zij ook tweemaal optrad als interim chief curator. Ze staat bekend om haar uitgebreide werk in het verzamelen, cureren van grote tentoonstellingen (zoals die over Lisette Model en Don McCullin) en het schrijven van talrijke catalogi en boeken over fotografie. Ze ging in 2021 met pensioen bij de National Gallery en werkt sindsdien door als onafhankelijk curator.[1,3,4]
