Burk Uzzle is een Amerikaanse fotojournalist en professionele fotograaf die bekendstaat om zijn genuanceerde weergaven van de Amerikaanse cultuur, gemeenschappen en cruciale historische momenten. Hij begon zijn carrière op 17-jarige leeftijd als vaste fotograaf voor The News & Observer in Raleigh, voordat hij in 1962 op 23-jarige leeftijd de jongste contractfotograaf werd aangenomen door LIFE magazine. Uzzle was lid van Magnum Photos van 1967 tot 1983 en diende daar in 1979 en 1980 als president. Zijn werk legt significante gebeurtenissen vast, zoals het Woodstock-festival en de aanslag op Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., terwijl hij zich ook richt op kwesties rond sociale rechtvaardigheid, waaronder Cambodaanse oorlogsvluchtelingen en gemarginaliseerde bevolkingsgroepen. Hij woont en werkt momenteel in Wilson, North Carolina.[1,2]
