Charles Harbutt

Charles Harbutt is een vooraanstaande fotograaf en docent die de eerste twintig jaar van zijn carrière als fotojournalist werkte. Hij was tweemaal president van Magnum Photos en werkte uitgebreid voor tijdschriften in Europa, Japan en de Verenigde Staten. Sinds 1980 richt hij zich op persoonlijke artistieke fotografie, waarbij hij thema's verkent die realiteit met surrealisme vermengen. Harbutt is een bekwaam docent en heeft onderwijs gegeven aan instellingen zoals Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), MIT, Art Institute of Chicago, Cooper Union, Parsons, Pratt Institute en Bard College. Vanaf 1999 was hij associate professor bij Parsons, the New School for Design. Zijn werk is wereldwijd tentoongesteld in grote instituten zoals het Museum of Modern Art, de Whitney en het Centre Pompidou.[1]
