Jem Southam

fotograaf

Jem Southam is een Britse landschapsfotograaf en docent. Hij werd in 1950 geboren in Bristol en studeerde creative photography aan het London College of Printing voordat hij van 1976 tot 1982 werkte bij de Arnolfini Gallery in Bristol. Hij heeft vele jaren fotografie onderwezen aan de University of Plymouth, waar hij momenteel emeritus Professor of Photography is aan de School of Art, Design and Architecture. Het werk van Southam richt zich primair op het landelijke landschap van het South West van Engeland, gekenmerkt door langdurige studies van geselecteerde locaties om veranderingen over seizoenen en jaren heen in kaart te brengen. Hij maakt gebruik van een 8x10 large format view camera voor zijn praktijk.[4,5]
