John R. Gossage

John Gossage is een Amerikaanse fotograaf en photobook-maker die bekendstaat om zijn artist's books en fotografische publicaties. Hij werd in 1946 geboren in New York en woont en werkt in Washington D.C. Tussen 1960 en 1961 studeerde hij bij Lisette Model en Alexey Brodovitch. Gossage wordt beschouwd als een van de beste Amerikaanse photobook-makers, die met name bekend is door zijn eerste monografie, 'The Pond' (1985). In 2002 richtte hij Loosestrife Editions op om boeken te publiceren die uitdagen, prikkelen en inspireren. Zijn werk verkent vaak historische lagen door een poëtische en metaforische lens, zoals te zien is in zijn uitgebreide documentatie van Berlin.[1,2]
