Mark Power

Mark Power is een Britse fotograaf, auteur en docent. Geboren in 1959 in Harpenden, VK, studeerde hij oorspronkelijk schilderkunst en modeltekenen aan een kunstacademie voordat hij in 1983 overstapte op fotografie. Hij werkte bijna een decennium in de redactie- en goede doelensector voordat hij Senior Lecturer en later Professor of Photography aan de University of Brighton werd, waar hij tot 2017 lesgaf. Power is een vooraanstaand lid van het Magnum Photos-collectief, waarbij hij in 2002 als nominee werd opgenomen en in 2007 full member werd. Zijn werk wordt gekenmerkt door langdurige, zelfgeïnitieerde projecten en grootschalige industriële opdrachten, waarbij hij vaak architecturale transformaties en industriële landschappen documenteert. Hij heeft 11 boeken gepubliceerd, waaronder opmerkelijke werken over maritieme weerrapporten, de Millennium Dome en de restauratie van historische monumenten. Zijn fotografie is internationaal tentoongesteld en bevindt zich in talrijke publieke en particuliere collecties wereldwijd.[1,2,3,4,5]
