Philip-Lorca diCorcia is een Amerikaanse fotograaf die bekend staat om zijn zorgvuldig opgebouwde composities die de grenzen tussen documentaire en fictieve fotografie vervagen. Geboren in Hartford, Connecticut, studeerde hij aan de School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, en ontving zijn MFA van Yale University in 1979. Zijn werk kenmerkt zich vaak door een barokke theatraliteit; hij maakt gebruik van zorgvuldig geplande mise-en-scène om alledaagse gebeurtenissen of specifieke personages vast te leggen — zoals mannelijke prostituees in zijn 'Hustlers'-serie — om thema's als identiteit, realiteit en verlangen te verkennen. Hij is momenteel docent aan Yale University.[1,2,3]
