Reyner Banham

Reyner Banham (1922–1988) was een prominente Britse architectuurcriticus en historicus. Hij stond vooral bekend om zijn theoretische verhandeling 'Theory and Design in the First Machine Age' (1960) en zijn boek uit 1971 'Los Angeles: The Architecture of Four Ecologies'. Banham was een belangrijke stem in de documentatie van New Brutalism en high-tech architectuur, en schreef regelmatig voor de 'Architectural Review'. Hij was een pleitbezorger voor de verbinding tussen architectonisch modernisme en avant-garde artistieke bewegingen. Als productieve journalist verhuisde hij in 1976 naar de Verenigde Staten, waar hij tot zijn overlijden in 1988 doceerde aan de University of California, Santa Cruz, en het Institute of Fine Arts aan de New York University.[1,2,3]
