Roni Horn is een Amerikaanse beeldend kunstenaar en schrijver, geboren in New York City in 1955. Als kleinkind van Oost-Europese immigranten studeerde zij aan de Rhode Island School of Design in 1975 en Yale University in 1978. Haar praktijk wordt diep beïnvloed door het landschap, de geologie en het klimaat van IJsland, een land dat zij sinds de jaren 1970 regelmatig heeft bezocht. Horn staat bekend om haar diverse gebruik van media, waaronder tekstgebaseerde sculpturen, installaties, schilderijen en een serie fotoboeken. Haar werk verkent vaak thema's als water, weer en de cyclische relatie tussen de mensheid en de natuur. Zij is openlijk homoseksueel en is vertegenwoordigd door galeries zoals Xavier Hufkens en Hauser & Wirth. Haar opmerkelijke werken zijn onder meer 'You Are the Weather' (1994-1996), een fotografische installatie, en de voortdurende serie 'To Place', die het IJslandse landschap documenteert door middel van fotografie en waterverf.[1,2,3,4,5]
