Serge Klarsfeld is een in Romania geboren Franse activist, historicus en advocaat, breed erkend als een 'Nazi-jager'. Geboren in Bucharest in 1935 in een familie van Bessarabische Joden die vóór de Tweede Wereldoorlog naar France vluchtten, maakte Klarsfeld getuige van de deportatie en dood van zijn vader in het concentratiekamp Auschwitz. Sinds de jaren 60 wijdt hij zijn leven aan het documenteren van de Holocaust, het opsporen en vervolgen van nazi-oordmijders en het pleiten voor de rechten van gedeporteerde Joden. Hij richtte mede de 'Sons and Daughters of Jewish Deportees from France' (FFDJF) op en was instrumenteel bij het aanspannen van hoogprofileerde zaken tegen figuren als Klaus Barbie en Maurice Papon. Klarsfeld is ook een auteur wiens werken een monument en verslag vormen van de Joodse slachtoffers van nazi-vervolging in France. In de afgelopen jaren heeft hij zijn pleitbezorging uitgebreid naar bredere kwesties van sociale rechtvaardigheid en mensenrechten, terwijl hij een luidkeels criticus blijft van antisemitisme en rechts-extremistische ideologieën.[1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29,30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37,38,39,40]
