Thomas Roma

Thomas Roma is een Amerikaanse documentairefotograaf en auteur, geboren in Brooklyn, New York. In 1973 ontving hij een New York State Council for the Arts Fellowship en werd hij twee keer onderscheiden met Guggenheim Fellowships (in 1982 en 1991). Zijn werk richt zich vaak op het stedelijk leven, sociale kwesties en culturele landschappen, waaronder zijn uitgebreide documentatie van Sicilië, Italië, die in 1977 begon. Roma heeft fotografie onderwezen aan prestigieuze instellingen zoals Yale, Fordham, Cooper Union en de School of Visual Arts. In 1996 werd hij Professor of Art and Director of the Photography Program aan de Columbia University School of the Arts. Zijn foto's maken deel uit van talloze belangrijke collecties, waaronder het Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), het San Francisco Museum of Modern Art en het Art Institute of Chicago.[1,2]
