Published in 1965 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Vereeniging tot de bevordering van de belangen des Boekhandels (VBB), this work combines the literary output of poet Bert Schierbeek with the visual artistry of photographer Cas Oorthuys. The book features black and white photographs printed in rotogravure, which serve as a visual counterpart to Schierbeek's poems. It explores themes related to language and signs, specifically describing 'the signs of power and impotence on earth.' The publication is noted for its high-quality production values, including typography by Mart Kempers and oversight by a redaction committee that included C. Blok.
