David Goldblatt: Particulars

David Goldblatt’s Particulars is a deeply contemplative work of photography that focuses on intimate subjects such as hands resting on laps, crossed legs, and the curved backs of sleepers on a lawn at midday. The photographs, taken beginning in 1975, are framed by the poetry of Ingrid de Kok. This first edition, published in 2003 by Goodman Gallery in Johannesburg, explores themes of leisure and human presence through a series of quiet, still compositions. The work is edited by Mary Reynolds and features a design by Francois Smit and David Goldblatt.
