Alphabet is an experimental art publication from 1970, part of the Quadrat-Print (Kwadraad-Blad) series produced by De Jong & Co in Hilversum, Holland. Created as a contribution to the social and sexual revolution of the late 1960s, the work features photography by Geert Kooiman and a story/photo report by Ed van der Elsken. The book consists of a cardboard portfolio containing 30 loose duotone cardboard sheets. Each sheet depicts nude female models posed in the shapes of letters from the alphabet and punctuation marks (exclamation points, question marks, and quotation marks). The verso of each card includes text in four languages: Dutch, English, French, and German. Produced by Anthon Beeke and Anna Beeke, this work explores graphic design and visual arts through a provocative lens, combining conceptual artistic expression with photography.
