This work consists of three volumes (I, II, and III) featuring 35 loose full-sized photogravure plates produced from original field photographs taken by Dr. Gregor Krause during his stay in Balikpapan, Dutch territory of Borneo, between 1920 and 1925. The collection is presented in three heavy limp paper portfolios, each marked with its respective volume number in gilt on the front cover. Each portfolio includes a loosely inserted text-leave in German providing an introduction and concise descriptions for the accompanying plates. The imagery captures various aspects of Borneo, including Dayak headmen, families of nose-monkeys, orangutans, and the dense jungle landscape.
