€ 120,00
Photographs cropped in different (triangular to octangular) shapes, this composition adds to the tale. No Text. Close-Cropped Tales is an artist's book by John Baldessari published in 1981 by CEPA Gallery. The work features a series of black-and-white film stills that have been appropriated and re-presented as photographs, each cropped into unique polygonal shapes ranging from three to eight sides. These 'tales' are organized into chapters based on the number of sides given to each image, creating a visual progression that explores perception through geometric manipulation. The book was published in conjunction with exhibitions at the CEPA Gallery and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York. It is limited to 3,000 copies and features approximately 84 pages with numerous halftone plates.
