Pilgrims

Marketa Luskacova’s Pilgrims is a classic exhibition catalogue published by the Victoria & Albert Museum in London in 1983. The work features a remarkable collection of 46 black and white photographs documenting religious pilgrimages in Czechoslovakia, Luskacova's home country. Born in Prague in 1944, Luskacova captured these visually intelligent series which depict thousands of people—mostly Roman Catholics—traveling great distances to participate in traditional summer festivals. The publication serves as a documentation of the Victoria & Albert Museum’s exhibition held between 1983 and 1984. It includes introductions by Mark Haworth-Booth, Josef Topol, and Luskacova herself.
