You are the weather

“You are the Weather” (1994–1996) is Roni Horn’s first photographic installation. It is a photographic cycle featuring 100 close-up shots of a young woman, Margret, in a variety of Icelandic geothermal pools. The work confronts the viewer with the mysterious surface of a woman's face, creating an intimate and evocative work of art without being sexual or explicit. The photographs, which are slightly larger-than-life, capture facial expressions and the reflections of light on the water. Through her eyes, the work conflates our complex interior lives with meteorological conditions—both constantly evolving and difficult to predict. Published by Scalo Verlag Ac in 1997, this hardcover edition is a significant piece of contemporary photographic art, noted for its high-quality production and atmospheric imagery.
