Willem van Zoetendaal curated various exhibitions at the Gemeentemuseum The Hague (Fotokabinetten). This publication accompanied the exhibition Portretten / Van Zoetendaal Collections with a selection of 150 portraits from his private collection. The photographs were mainly collected during ten years (1992-2002) of teaching photography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. The museum purchased the entire collection of about 1100 photographs and albums in 2007.
