Tokio (Tokyo) is a seminal photobook by American photographer William Klein, published as the first German edition in 1965. The work captures the rapid economic growth and bustling urban life of Tokyo in 1961, three years before the Summer Olympics. It is noted for its beautiful reproduction in deep gravure, printed in Japan by Zokeisha/Tokio. The book is structured into three chapters: Ritus, Album, and Ikebana, and features a preface by Richard Friedenthal. It remains one of Klein's most sought-after city books, alongside his works on New York, Rome, and Moscow.
