Maxwell Kozloff (1933–2025) was een vooraanstaande Amerikaanse kunsthistoricus, criticus en fotograaf. Hij trad op als kunstredacteur voor The Nation en als redactievoorzitter van Artforum. Kozloff staat breed erkend om zijn wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar moderne kunst, in het bijzonder Abstract Expressionism en de geschiedenis van de fotografie. Hij bekleedde docentfuncties bij talrijke prestigieuze instellingen, waaronder Yale University en de School of Visual Arts. Zijn publicaties bevatten belangrijke werken over Jasper Johns, Cubism/Futurism en fotografische portretkunst.
